Description

Sporting the number 722 on the side of his open-top Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, Stirling Moss added a glittering chapter to the legend of the Silver Arrows in 1955 when he won the Mille Miglia, the 1,000-mile race from Brescia to Rome and back, in an in a record time that is still unrivalled today. The course record of 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds at an average speed of almost 157.62 km/h, which Sir Stirling Moss set at the time with co-driver Denis Jenkinson, remains unbroken to this day.

The pioneering design of the SLR undergoes significant modifications with the SLR Roadster 722 S. Uncompromising with maximum dynamics and pure power delivery - based on the 722 Edition. The striking air splitter at the front reinforces the downforce and ensures stable road holding and precise handling at high speeds.

At the heart of the SLR Roadster 722 S is an AMG V8 5.5-litre supercharged engine pumping out 478 kW/650 hp. Numerous innovations are used to control this concentrated power, which are particularly noticeable when driving. These include the hand-stitched soft top, which is fitted with millimetre precision: the integrated composite panel prevents inflation at top speeds and reduces wind noise.
