Ferrari 308 GTBi – A classic Italian sports car in Rosso Corsa
An attractive 1981 Ferrari 308 GTBi is for sale – a true classic in the Italian sports car tradition, equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, only 21,023 km on the odometer and presented in the legendary Rosso Corsa colour. This vehicle not only embodies pure driving pleasure, but also has a high collector's value.
The Ferrari 308 GTBi belongs to the second development phase of the 308 series, which was produced from 1980 to 1982. The designation ‘i’ stands for ‘iniezione’, meaning petrol injection – a decisive feature compared to the earlier carburettor models. Ferrari introduced this mechanical Bosch K-Jetronic injection system in order to comply with the emission regulations of the time, which also increased the level of modernisation of the engine.
At the heart of the 308 GTBi is a transversely mounted 2.9-litre V8 engine with 214 hp (157 kW) at 6,600 rpm and a maximum torque of around 243 Nm at 4,600 rpm. Combined with the classic 5-speed manual transmission and the mid-engine configuration, this creates a driving experience that uniquely combines agility, directness and engine character. The top speed is around 240 km/h.
The sporty chassis is based on a robust tubular steel frame with independent wishbone suspension at the front and rear, disc brakes on all four wheels and precise rack-and-pinion steering. These components lay the foundation for balanced handling that performs confidently on winding country roads and motorways alike.
Visually, the 308 GTBi captivates with its classic Berlinetta silhouette featuring clean lines, a dynamic wedge shape and the typical round rear lights – a design that is immediately associated with Ferrari and still looks modern today. The interior offers a sporty, classic Ferrari atmosphere with a focus on functionality and driver orientation.
With only 494 GTBi models produced, this model is one of the rarer versions within the 308 family and is therefore highly regarded by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
