Description
The crowning glory of the third M3 generation and strictly limited to just 1,383 units worldwide, the CSL is now considered one of the most sought-after icons in BMW M history. Under the bonnet is the legendary 3.2-litre inline six-cylinder engine with 360 hp, paired with consistent lightweight construction and direct racing DNA.
The interior reflects this philosophy: Alcantara bucket seats, an Alcantara steering wheel with a 12 o'clock mark, large carbon elements and minimal insulation material create a purist driving environment. Comfort features such as air conditioning, radio and navigation system were only available on request – many vehicles were delivered in the lightest configuration.
With its clear limitations, uncompromising concept and emotional driving characteristics, the BMW M3 CSL is one of the most sought-after collector's items in modern sports car history.
- Large areas made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), e.g. door panels, centre console, seat backs.
- Fixed bucket seats (Recaro Pole Position) with Alcantara upholstery and minimal padding.
- Thinner carpet, less insulation material, no rear centre armrest, some doors without full door panels, but instead lightweight panels with fabric pull instead of door handle.
Of the 1,383 vehicles (approx. 841 for Europe), the interior fittings in the basic version were very minimal – anyone who wanted extras had to consciously choose comfort at the expense of weight.
