Porsche 356 Pre-A 1500 Cabriolet (1952): Early collector's item with documented history
Amian Collection Cars is offering an exceptionally early Porsche 356 Pre-A 1500 Cabriolet from 1952 for sale – a German vehicle that impresses not only with its rarity, but also with its documented history and authentic restoration.
This convertible was delivered in May 1952 via the Porsche Centre Fleischhauer in Bonn. In its early years, the car was owned by a member of the German Bundestag and his wife – a history that can be fully documented and lends the vehicle additional historical relevance.
The year 1952 is considered one of the decisive transitional years in the development of the Porsche 356. At the end of April, Porsche began switching from the split-window rear window to the so-called kinked window. Vehicles from this phase are particularly sought after by collectors, as they feature a rare combination of early design features and initial technical developments. This convertible was also produced during this transitional period and accordingly combines a fascinating mix of existing stock and new components.
The vehicle comes with a comprehensive valuation report, a Reutter certificate and a Porsche certificate of authenticity, which clearly confirm the originality and authenticity of this 356 Pre-A.
The restoration took place over a period of two years with the highest standards of substance preservation and fidelity to the original. The aim was to leave the historical character of the vehicle largely untouched and to replace only those components that were technically or structurally necessary. The exterior and interior colour combination was retained exactly as specified in the Reutter certificate. The bodywork was completely stripped of paint, repaired, professionally welded, repainted and then carefully reassembled.
A total of only 294 Porsche 356 Pre-A Cabriolets were manufactured by Reutter, divided between the 1300 and 1500 cc variants. The number of Pre-A 1500 Cabriolets still in existence today is extremely small – only a few vehicles worldwide are known to be in this authentic and documented condition.
The vehicle can be viewed at any time by prior telephone appointment.
