Description

The Porsche 964 Turbo: A 90s Legend

The Porsche 964 Turbo debuted at the 1990 Geneva Motor Show, immediately impressing with its distinctive design. Compared to its predecessors, this model stood out with a wider body and significantly flared wheel arches, giving it a powerful and aggressive look.

Design and Characteristics

The wider body and flared wheel arches clearly distinguished the 964 Turbo from the Carrera models. A striking rear with a rear wing adopted from the G-model Turbo 3.3 and two oval tailpipes emphasised the model's unique character. A particular detail was that exhaust gases only exited the left tailpipe when the turbocharger's boost pressure control valve was active.

Engine and Performance

In the 1991 and 1992 model years, the 911 Turbo was powered by a 3.3-litre turbocharged engine producing 320 horsepower. From the 1993 model year onwards, the 964 Turbo received a more powerful 3.6-litre engine producing 360 horsepower. This version was easily recognisable by its red brake callipers. The 911 Turbo of the 964 type was almost exclusively available as a coupé, with the exception of a very small series of convertibles.

The 3.6 litre version of the turbo from 1993 is now a highly sought-after collector's item. Amian Collection Cars presented the model in dark blue.
